Jacob Nolley's photoThis week we are spotlighting freshman Jacob Nolley from Shelbyville, IN. Jacob is majoring in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing. When asked why he chose Purdue, he divulged that he simply knew it was home from the first time he visited. Looking forward, Jacob hopes to become a photo journalist and travel the world. However, in the imminent future, he plans to continue to grow his company. Jacob expounded more on his company when asked about his extracurricular involvements.

The main way I have been involved on campus is through my company, Jacob's Loom, which I started three years ago. Jacob's Loom is a clothing manufacturing and wholesale company with a mission to change the world. Me and a group of friends that I met at BGR are planning a really cool manufacturing system that will be launched this Fall. The process will allow for individuals in low income communities to earn a fair wage on their own time within their own homes producing our products. Also, this system will allow us to tell the story of these people in order to create meaning in the products that we sell.
It's safe to that between schoolwork and running his own company, Jacob’s days are busy. Fortunately, he lives in the Honors residential community in Shreve Hall. He confirmed,
My favorite experience from the Honors College would have to be living in Shreve. I have met so many amazing people here with the same goals and level of motivation that I do.
As a freshman in college, and with a company of his own that is already three years in the making, Jacob’s next three years at Purdue have a great deal of potential. We are certainly looking forward to watching Jacob’s Loom as it continues to expand and grow, especially with the implementation of this new manufacturing model. Congratulations on all you’ve accomplished thus far Jacob. We wish you the best of luck in this great endeavor.
